Learn MoreThree steps from your first call to a finished job. No chasing contractors, no guessing at timelines.
You reach out by phone or through our contact form. We ask a few basic questions - what you are seeing, where it is on the home, and how long it has been happening. We schedule a free on-site assessment within a few days, typically within 1 business day of your request. You do not need to know the technical details - just describe what you have noticed.
A qualified mason walks the property with you, points out exactly what is happening and why, and delivers a written estimate that breaks down every cost. If a permit is required for your job, we tell you upfront and handle the application ourselves. You compare it to other bids, ask questions, and decide when you are ready.
The crew arrives on the agreed date, does the work, and leaves the area cleaner than they found it. At the end of the job, we walk through the completed work with you so you can see exactly what was done. You get documentation of the work and warranty terms before we leave. Then you go back to your life.
We carry full liability insurance and workers compensation coverage on every project. We also pull all required building permits from the City of Little Rock - so the work is on record and passed inspection.
We come to your property, walk the area, and give you a written estimate that breaks down every cost. You decide when you are ready. No deposit is required to get an estimate and no pressure to sign on the spot.
We are a local company - not a franchise or a traveling crew. We know Little Rock's clay soil, its older neighborhoods, and the seasonal patterns that affect masonry here. We also know our neighbors depend on us to stand behind the work.
Every job comes with written warranty documentation before we leave the site. If something we built or repaired fails within the warranty period, we come back and fix it. You get that in writing - not just a verbal promise.

"Our chimney had been leaking for two seasons and two contractors looked at it without fixing the problem. LRM found the issue on the first visit - a cracked crown and missing cap - and had it repaired within a week. The fireplace has worked perfectly through two winters since."
David R., Little Rock - Chimney Repair
"I had stair-step cracks in my foundation wall that had been getting worse every spring. LRM explained exactly what the clay soil was doing and why it kept coming back. The foundation work took two days, and I have not seen new cracks in over a year. They also handled the permit, which I did not even have to think about."
Teresa M., Sherwood - Foundation Repair
"The mortar on my 1940s brick house was crumbling all along the front wall. LRM matched the soft mortar the house was built with - something two other contractors did not even mention. The finished joints look like they were always there. My neighbors have already asked who did the work."
James W., North Little Rock - Tuckpointing
We respond within 1 business day. There is no obligation after the estimate - just a clear, written proposal with every cost spelled out. After you submit, someone from our office calls to schedule a free on-site visit so we can see the project in person before giving you a number.

In colder northern climates, the ground stays frozen for months. Here, Little Rock temperatures bounce above and below freezing repeatedly through winter - and each cycle pushes water deeper into mortar joints. That repeated expansion is why local homeowners often need mortar work sooner than they expect. The Brick Industry Association explains how freeze-thaw exposure affects mortar longevity differently by climate zone.
Hairline cracks in concrete are often harmless settling. But cracks wider than a quarter-inch, diagonal cracks running from door corners, or stair-step cracks in brick almost always mean the foundation is actively moving. In Little Rock, the clay soil underneath is usually the driver - it shrinks in dry summers and expands again with winter rain.
Both materials handle heat well, but they fail differently. Concrete cracks as a single slab when the ground shifts. Pavers flex slightly with movement and can be repaired one piece at a time rather than replaced as a whole surface. In Little Rock's expansive clay soil, pavers tend to hold up better over time and are easier to fix when they do settle. concrete block walls are another option worth considering for retaining and border structures where strength and longevity matter more than flexibility.
Sealing brick can help keep water out, but the wrong sealer traps moisture inside the wall - which causes more damage than it prevents. In a climate with 50 inches of rain per year, breathable penetrating sealers are the safer choice for most older brick homes. Always have failing mortar repaired first; sealing over crumbling joints does not stop water infiltration.
The National Fire Protection Association recommends annual chimney inspections - even if you only use the fireplace occasionally. In Little Rock, humid summers and spring storm season make an annual check even more important. A missing cap or cracked crown after a storm can let enough water in over one wet season to damage the liner and firebox.
Homes built before 1960 - common in Hillcrest, the Heights, and the Quapaw Quarter - were typically constructed with soft lime-based mortar. Using a hard modern mix on those homes forces the brick to absorb all the stress instead of the mortar. Over time, the bricks crack rather than the joints. Matching the mortar to the age of the home is not optional - it is the difference between a repair that helps and one that quietly causes damage. National Park Service Preservation Briefs cover this in detail for historic brick buildings.

If the bricks themselves are intact and only the mortar is failing, tuckpointing is almost always the right call - it costs far less than replacement. If bricks are spalling (flaking), hollow when tapped, or cracked through, they need to come out and be replaced individually. Catching the problem while bricks are still good is significantly cheaper.
Doors that stuck after a dry summer and un-stuck after fall rain are often just seasonal clay movement - worth monitoring but not always urgent. Cracks that grow wider over time, gaps opening at ceiling or floor lines, or floors that slope visibly are more serious. If you are seeing more than one of these symptoms, get an assessment before the next dry season.
Standard homeowners insurance in Arkansas typically covers sudden storm damage to chimneys and brick structures. Gradual deterioration - worn mortar, aging brick - is almost never covered. If you had storm damage, document it with photos immediately and call your insurer before making repairs. A licensed contractor can provide documentation of storm-related damage.
The Foundation Repair Association publishes homeowner resources on when to act on foundation symptoms - a useful reference if you want a second opinion on what you are seeing before calling a contractor. When you are ready to talk through your specific situation, give us a call and we will walk you through it at no charge.
Little Rock is Arkansas's largest city and state capital, home to about 202,000 people on the south bank of the Arkansas River. The city spans a wide range of neighborhoods - from the Victorian and craftsman homes of the Quapaw Quarter and Hillcrest to the ranch-style brick homes in Broadmoor and Leawood, to the newer subdivisions in Chenal Valley. According to U.S. Census data, a large share of the city's housing was built before 1980, which means many local homeowners are living in brick homes that need regular masonry attention.
The older neighborhoods are especially brick-heavy - Hillcrest, the Heights, and Pulaski Heights have homes built between the 1920s and 1960s where original mortar is now 60 to 100 years old. Near downtown, you can find some of the oldest Victorian and Queen Anne homes in the state, many of which have never had significant masonry work done. Little Rock Central High School - now a National Historic Site - sits at the center of one of these established older neighborhoods, surrounded by homes that reflect decades of brick construction. The Clinton Presidential Center anchors the river district, another area with significant older residential construction nearby.
Little Rock's clay-heavy soil is the biggest driver of masonry repair demand in the region. The soil swells with winter rain and shrinks in dry summers - a cycle that puts constant stress on brick walls, retaining structures, and foundations. Combined with 50 inches of annual rainfall and freeze-thaw winters, it creates conditions where masonry maintenance is not optional for homeowners who want to protect their investment. LRM Little Rock Masonry knows this city, its neighborhoods, and the specific conditions that affect masonry here - and we build and repair accordingly.
